Smoldering embers from a wood stove caused about $15,000 damage to a shed behind a house on Madison’s north side late Monday night.
Madison firefighters responded to the blaze at 4014 Toban Drive at about 11:40 p.m., said Madison Fire Department spokeswoman Lori Wirth.
"The owner of the property took some embers out of a wood burner in the house and put the embers behind a storage shed," Wirth said. "He covered the embers with dirt, but the embers reignited."
Damage was estimated to be $10,000 to the shed and $5,000 to the shed contents. No one was injured.
