|(The wind dies down, pollution has nowhere to go)….The Air Pollution Control District says the foul air has settled over the border.
Beginning Wednesday the APCD Air Quality monitor in Calexico has registered a very high Air Quality Index for PM 2.5. That translates to a condition of Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups. The condition continued Thursday. PM 2.5 is a finite Particulate Matter that can be very harmful to the respiratory system. The At Risk groups are those with respiratory or heart disease, the elderly and children. It is recommended that those at risk are most at risk when they are physically active. The APCD says residents can reduce exposure to particulate material by postponing outdoor activities to days when particulate levels are lower. It is recommended the at risk population reduce the intensity and duration of outdoor activities. Air Quality for the rest of the County both Wednesday and Thursday was reported as Good.
