The Maricopa County Air Quality Department has issued No Burn Day restrictions for Wednesday, following a health watch issued by the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality.
The health watch was issued because of a high wind advisory for Wednesday from the National Weather Service.
High winds can lead to particulate matter pollution (PM-10). Those particles, 10 microns or less, come from combustion or dust stirred into the air. High levels can aggravate existing respiratory conditions.
During No Burn Day restrictions, residents and businesses are told not to use wood burning fireplaces, woodstoves or outdoor fire pits and to choose a rake over the use of a leaf blower.
